the christian one kind of makes me uncomfortable. I mean, I’m not Indian-Christian, and going on the fact that I only know Malayalam Christians, I don’t think that’s a very accurate portrayal of them? Idk does a Malayalam Christian/Catholic have an opinion?
lol what
Actually just learned something from Wikipedia right now. Christians in India are most prevalent in the northeastern and southwestern parts (I knew the second, I didn’t know the first). But it only makes sense that Indian Christians dress similarly to other people in their region lol. I don’t get why they’re depicted as wearing Western clothes, when I think that would seem really strange to most of my family. Like, I can’t imagine adult Indian Christian women wearing dresses…what. In Kerala (since I can’t speak for anywhere else), women wear saris to church and young women and older girls wear like churidhars and salwars. Younger girls (like say, younger than high school) might wear midi sets, and like, skirts and blouses that look like stuff you buy in India lol. But yeah, you might see younger men and some middle-age men in dress shirts and dress pants. But older men generally wear nice mundu and dress shirt. BASICALLY WHAT PEOPLE IN KERALA WEAR TO NICE PLACES, THATS WHAT CHRISTIAN KERALITES WEAR FOR CHURCH. GOSH. IDK ABOUT INDIAN CHRISTIANS ELSEWHERE IN INDIA. BUT I ASSUME THEY ALSO WEAR THEIR REGIONAL CLOTHING. WHY IS THIS WOMAN WEARING A SHORT DRESS. THATS FOR LITTLE GIRLS.*
*I don’t actually think only little girls can wear short dresses. But this picture just makes no sense. And it’s usually only younger girls that wear dresses like that in India where I’ve been.
edit: I’ve never seen a Christian Indian man in my life wear a full suit including jacket except during their wedding or at a wedding. (In India)
