Intentionally Untitled: whenever someone says that arranged marriages never work

I tell them what my mother’s favorite day was. It was her wedding day, and she considers my father her best friend and lover and…

Point is it sounds like your family has had a good go at it - and that’s great - but your mother’s story isn’t a representation of arranged marriage as a whole. It’s tough to deal with data when you’re talking sociological phenomena, but anecdotal evidence isn’t empirical data.

The mother here also has no desire to live in a civilization based on respect and freedom.

I was going to reply to your other reblog but then I saw this and I want this here so everyone who follows me can see how much of a racist jerk you are.

Also the mother in the original post lives in Canada and if Western = freedom, then well, she’s in a Western place. By the way, Western does not equal civilized and freedom. And brown people do not lack respect or freedom (well, we have often and still often lack freedom at the hands of white oppressers). What you say also assumes that Western places or places supposedly without arranged marriages are respectful towards women, but they are not necessarily so.

also, I am fairly certain you don’t understand arranged marriage…

edited to add the word ‘freedom’ and the parenthetical
